UV RADIATIONS

UVC (UP TO 280)
These are extremely short wavelengths, which do not penetrate the Earth's atmosphere.
UVB (280 nm to 315 nm)
Remember UVB by
'B for burning'
These rays are case the sunburn and can quickly damage eye tissue. All of our Keen glasses filter out UVB rays.
UVA (315 nm to 380 nm)
Remember UVA by
'A for ageing'
Besides the skin sunbathing these rays cause premature ageing and can accelerate the development o age related illnesses. Good quality sunglasses eliminate UVA totally.
Violet/ blue light (380 nm to 500 nm)
Violet/blue light has the same effect as UVA radiation. However it is necessary to keep some vision in this region for color credibility. High quality lenses filter out the harmful radiation but leave the region of the spectrum necessary to distinguish.
Green and red light (500 nm to 770 nm)
In this part of the spectrum the energy of the photos is insufficient to cause damage.
Infrared light (770 nm +) non – visible
In most conditions infrared light causes no damage to the eye. From this reason there is no European Sunglasses Standard requiring its reduction or elimination. But it spreads thermal energy and lenses that block out this radiation help keep the eyes cool and comfortable.
